in local patois, chetzeron means “the round crest”. what better way to define the exceptional location of the establishment?
at an altitude of 2112 m and above the last larch trees, chetzeron is literally situated in the middle of nature, facing the highest peaks of the Alps. from the centre of crans-montana, you can only get there on foot, on skis, by gondola or with the chetzeron vehicles. indeed, only the latter are allowed to circulate on the forest road leading to the hotel. the ascent to chetzeron is therefore already part of the journey.
chetzeron is an exceptional establishment. secluded on its promontory, it awaits you, in the vastness of space, in silence and tranquillity. every day and every season, it offers a fabulous show about the environment. in spring, when nature wakes up, you can enjoy the first flowers coming out and the bees buzzing. green larch trees colour the landscape in summer and turn orange in autumn. in winter, the snow-covered mountain absorbs every noise and sublime chetzeron in all its splendour. the mornings are magical and the evenings enchanting.
from your bedroom, our terraces or our swimming pool, you can observe majestic peaks: the bishorn (4153m), the weisshorn (4506m), the schalihorn (3975m), the zinalrothorn (4221m), the besso (3668m), the white tooth (4357m) and even the cervin (4478m).

to get your stay off to the best possible start, we strongly recommend that you arrange your arrival in advance and read our instructions carefully. in addition, we ask you to book your transfer or check in your luggage as soon as possible.
in winter, from crans-montana, the ascent to chetzeron can be done by gondola lift then by ski, gondola lift then by foot, ratrak, ski touring or snowshoes. the snowshoe trail starts in front of the ESS chalet and is indicated by pink signs. the ascent takes about 1h30 and represents 600 m of positive difference in height. this walk offers you magnificent landscapes. in the morning, if you are lucky, you can admire the sea of clouds covering the Rhone plain. if you wish to go up to chetzeron by gondola lift, we advise you to obtain your lift pass for the ascent beforehand on mycma. so you can take advantage of attractive prices. finally, we offer a caterpillar transfer service in the evening according to our schedule. to benefit from this service, it is compulsory to reserve your place in advance.
in summer, it is on foot, by bike, by gondola then by foot, by gondola then by 4×4 or directly by 4×4 that you will arrive at chetzeron. the footpath starts in front of the ESS chalet and is indicated by yellow “chetseron” signs. the ascent takes about 1h30 and represents 600 m of positive difference in height. you can take your sticks with you, which will help you when the slope is steep. if you want to go up by mountain bike or e-bike, there are several possibilities, but we recommend that you take this route from the centre of crans-montana. if you want to go up to chetzeron by gondola, we recommend that you obtain your lift pass from mycmabeforehand. as in winter, we offer a transfer service aboard our 4x4s at the end of the day. it is mandatory to book in order to benefit from this service. you will find all our schedules here.
